Hydrodynamic description of neutrino gas

چکیده

The system of neutrino-antineutrino (νν̄) plasma is considered taking into account their weak Fermi interaction. New fluid instabilities driven by strong neutrino flux in a plasma are found. The nonlinear stationary as well as nonstationary waves in the neutrino gas are discussed. It is shown that a bunch of neutrinos, drifting with a constant velocity across a homogeneous plasma, can also induce emission of lower energy neutrinos due to scattering, i.e. the decay of a heavy neutrino νH into a heavy and a light neutrino νL (νH → νHνL) in a plasma. Furthermore we find that the neutrino production in stars does not lead in general to energy losses from the neutron stars.

We study neutrino interactions in a hadron gas within a relativistic framework. The hadron matter is described by a non-interacting Fermi gas in beta equilibrium. We show that the introduction of relativistic effects causes a sizable enhancement of the neutrino-scattering cross sections. Neutrino interactions are pivotal in the dynamics of core-collapse supernova explosions and in the cooling o...

Improved models of stellar core collapse and still no explosions: what is missing?

Two-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations of stellar core collapse are presented which for the first time were performed by solving the Boltzmann equation for the neutrino transport including a state-of-the-art description of neutrino interactions. Stellar rotation is also taken into account. Although convection develops below the neutrinosphere and in the neutrino-heated region behind the super...
